We are extremely happy with Roots! Our son absolutely loves it there. Every morning he is thrilled to get in the car and go to therapy. Once we arrive he runs inside with so much excitement. It’s hard to leave your child everyday but knowing he is in the best care possible makes it so much easier. Everyone we have worked with is very communicative and responsive. His BCBA and therapists have made such a difference in his everyday life. In a short time we have already seen more improvements than we ever thought possible. They take such care in working with him and we love that they are equally excited to witness his growth. We have worked with many therapy providers over the years and Roots has been one of the best. I feel that the staff really listens to me as the parent and considers me an expert on my child. This is how all parents should be treated. I also feel that all the staff members who work with my son are deeply caring and compassionate individuals for whom this is more than just a job. They really listen to my concerns or requests and implement them immediately. They are flexible, responsive, and I feel that they truly understand the challenges of raising a disabled child and want to support me in any way they can.
We moved to Roots from a different provider. Really happy with the services here. They have age appropriate or child’s skills appropriate goals. Monthly meetings help understand the progress.

Co-owners Jennifer Link, M.S.Ed., BCBA., and Jillian Burgard, M.Ed. are dedicated educators and professionals. We are committed to providing families in the Chicago area with personalized support through all phases of their child's life.

With a combined 30+ years of experience in education and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), we truly understand the challenges and joys of raising a child with autism. We offer a multi-faceted approach to therapy that addresses the whole self. We believe that your child’s success depends on addressing all the key players who have a day-to-day impact on his or her life at home, in school and the community.

Understanding the school system can be daunting. We are there to support you throughout the whole process.

WE PROVIDE:

Full access to comprehensive knowledge of the school system, Early Intervention and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
Longstanding relationships with district and school administrators throughout Chicagoland
One-on-one support and consultation through all stages of your child’s education
School advocacy at all meetings you deem it necessary for our support and collaboration

The IEP acts as the blueprint to your child’s education. We can help facilitate the process.

After your child completes a comprehensive evaluation, the school district develops an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
It is an annual plan that guides the educational services for children with disabilities with the goal of continual movement toward the least restrictive environment.
The IEP team consists of those who developed the IEP and the parents or caregiver. At the parent’s request, we can be a part of the team.
Roots advocates for the child and family by assisting with the evaluation, going to IEP meetings and providing consulting services.

Community Integration

One of our goals at Roots is to ensure that children and young adults engage in play, socialization, and academics as well as function independently to the greatest extent possible within their community. We believe that providing ABA in the community, when appropriate, is an integral part of increasing your child’s ability to live a fulfilling and independent life.
